Review – Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream
My Skin Type: Combination to Oily in Summer, Dry in Winter, Sensitive, and acne-prone skin. Currently facing excess dryness, flaky skin, and redness due to allergies.
Packaging: Comes in an opaque white tub with a screw lid. Easy to store, use, and carry. Though recently after getting nail extensions I am kind of having trouble using tub-based products haha!
Fragrance: It gives a hint of olives when sniffed otherwise there isn’t any dominating fragrance.
My Experience
During Winter, my skin starts to feel a little dry and on top of that, I started using Retinol which also resulted in excessive dryness, flakiness, and redness. Not only that, my allergies somehow got triggered which again resulted in roughness and dryness. My skin was feeling extremely dry and dehydrated which is why I decided to give Kiehl’s Moisturizer a try.
I started using Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cream day and night after cleansing and toning. I switched to Forest Essentials Kashmiri Saffron and Neem Cleanser and Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner for added nourishment during these cold days. Not only this, but I also include Nykaa SkinRx Hylarunic and Ceramide serums as I am in absolute love with the texture and the way my skin feels with these serums.
I took a decent amount of Kiehl’s moisturizer and noticed the soft and creamy yet thick texture. It isn’t exactly THICK but thick enough to calm the dryness. At the same time, it feels light and soft while massaging it on my skin.
It felt smooth and easy to massage in and got immediately absorbed leaving my skin fully nourished and moisturized with that healthy glow and softness. It didn’t feel heavy or greasy on my skin and my skin started to fall in love with the results.
After regularly using it, my skin definitely felt soothed from the dryness and looked hydrated.
But as the winter season peaked, I started to feel the moisturizer wasn’t keeping my skin nourished for longer hours as it was doing earlier. Soon, when the air got colder, I started to feel dryness despite using Kiehl’s moisturizer and I either had to layer up or use my Aveeno or Palmer’s moisturizer on top of it.
I wasn’t getting the same results I got initially as the air got colder. I had to apply Vaseline and Boroline on the dry patches and flaky skin.
Now, I am on Cetaphil 48h Moisturizer because I needed that super thick texture to soothe this excessive dryness and the shedding of flaky skin which I was facing due to dryness. I am kind of relieved now and it looks like my skin is finally getting healed.
Kiehl’s moisturizer is definitely a good choice for someone with sensitive skin facing dryness or even for oily skin but it isn’t a targeted moisturizer for excessive dryness and similar skin concerns from my experience. It did well initially but wasn’t enough as the winter season on it’s peak.
