Hidden heart cake is a simple loaf cake in which there is a heart shape hidden inside. The technique of making hidden heart cake is very simple. But the joy and surprise you create when you slice the cake is unbeatable.
In this recipe I have shared two version of hidden heart cake. One is a chocolate hidden heart cake and a Rainbow hidden heart cake recipe.
I made a rainbow heart because i love anything rainbow or colourful. But you can add just red colour and place the heart inside.

How to Make Hidden Heart Cake Recipe
Making of Heart Cake Batter
Start by making a red coloured batter and bake it in a loaf pan. Cool the cake completely and then use a cookie cutter to cut it into heart shapes.
Making of Chocolate Cake Batter
Make chocolate cake batter. I used my pound cake batter recipe. It makes the most delicious cake.
Assembling
Spoon some chocolate batter in the bottom, then place the heart and then cover the entire cake with chocolate batter and bake.
Decorating and Serving
You can leave the cake as it is. Or you can pour a chocolate glaze on top and serve.

- You can use any shaped cookie cutter instead of heart shape.

Chocolate Hidden Heart Cake Recipe
1)Take all your ingredients
2)Take flour in a bowl
3)Add in baking powder
4)Mix well and set aside.
5)Take butter in a bowl
6)Add sugar
7)Add vanilla extract
8)Whisk till creamy.
9)Add eggs and mix well
10)Make sure you add one egg at a time and cream well.
11)Add in red food colour.
12)Add flour mix
13)Add milk little at a time.
14)Red Batter is done.
15)Spoon it into loaf pan.
16)Spread evenly.
17)Bake till cake is cooked.
18)Slice the cake. Use a heart shaped cutter and cut it.
19)The cake is sliced.
20)Make chocolate cake batter.
21)Take flour in a bowl.
22)Add coffee powder, baking agent.
23)cocoa powder and mix well and set aside.
24)Take butter in a bowl.
25)Add sugar
26)Add vanilla.
27)Cream together
28)Add eggs
29)Mix till creamy.
30)Add in flour mix in.
32)Pour little milk and fold gently.
33)Batter done.

Rainbow Hidden Heart Cake Recipe
This version of valentines hidden heart cake is rainbow version. Unleash the colourful rainbow pattern when you slice into the cake.
Preparation Time : 30 mins
Baking Time : 1 hour and 30 mins
Serves: 6 to 8
Ingredients for Hidden Rainbow Cake
For Rainbow Cake

All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1.5 cup / 180 grams

Sugar – 1 cup / 200 grams
-
Vanilla Essence – 1 tblspn
-
Eggs – 3
-
Baking Powder-2 tsp
-
Salt – ½ tsp
-
Unsalted Butter – 175 grams
-
Milk – ¼ cup / 60 ml
-
Food Colours as needed (red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink)
For Vanilla Cake:
-
All Purpose Flour / Maida – 1.5 cup / 180 grams
-
Sugar – ¾ cup / 150 grams
-
Unsalted Butter – 180 grams
-
Vanilla Essence – 2 tsp
-
Baking Powder – 1.5 tsp
-
Eggs – 3
(My 1 cup measures 240 ml)
How to Make Rainbow Heart Cake Recipe
Prepreparation
Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with oil and dust it with flour. Coat on all sides and set aside.
Making Rainbow Loaf Cake
Now take butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and whisk well. Add in eggs one at a time and whip till creamy. Now add in flour, baking powder and salt and fold gently. Add in milk and fold gently. Divide the batter between 6 bowls and add one food colouring in each one and mix well. Now spoon this into the loaf pan and use a skewer to make swirls on it.
Baking & Cutting Hearts
Now bake this in oven for 45 mins to 1 hour till the cake is done. Remove it and cool down completely. Now slice this into pieces and cut out heart shape using this. Put this in fridge for 30 mins to 1 hour or so.
Vanilla Cake Batter
Preheat oven to 180 degree C. Grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan with oil and dust it with flour. Coat on all sides and set aside. Now take butter, sugar and vanilla in a bowl and whisk well. Now add in eggs one at a time and whip till creamy. Add in flour, baking powder and salt and fold gently.
Assembling Hidden Heart Cake
Now take the loaf pan, spoon ¼ of the cake batter, spread evenly, now arrange the hearts on it and spoon the remaining batter in and bake for 35 mins to 45 mins. Now let the cake cool down, slice and serve.
